Frequently Asked Questions
A brief list that addressed frequent inquiries with regard to our services.
Please contact us if you have any questions that are not covered here.

What is your lead time?
This largely depends on the complexity and type of project. Generally, we need at least some details of the scope before we can provide approximate lead time.
A good starting point for lead times is as follows (these are not exact and subject to project details):
-
Custom furniture pieces 8-10 weeks
-
CNC machining 2-4 weeks
-
CAD Visualization 2-4 weeks
How much will it cost?
Again, largely dependent on project details. Complexity, materials, scope, revisions - all contribute to the final cost. We start with a free consultation meeting, which allows us to have a rough idea of scope. We can generally give a ballpark estimate within a day or two, to see if the project is a good fit for your budget.
We then generate a more detailed cost breakdown after some back and forth with the client, and are able to give a much more accurate initial quote before proceeding with the work.
How big is your CNC?
Our CNC is a 5x10 table, with a working area of about 60"x102". We can handle fairly large projects like slab and table-top flattening, with ease.
What types of materials can you machine on your CNC?
We are primarily setup to machine hardwood, softwood and wood sheet goods such as plywood, MDF and particle board. We can also machine soft materials like foams and plastics.

We are not setup to machine metals.
Do you do metal fabrication?
No. Metal fabrication is a specialty craft and skill, that requires training and tooling that we are just not setup for. We prefer to stay out of that lane, but can recommend some fantastic local fabricators.
What is the process for a custom commission?
Once the initial project quote is approved by the client, our process is pretty straight forward.

-
We begin with design drawings, where you will have opportunity for input and iterations. We require a non-refundable design fee of $500 as "earnest money" to begin this process.
-
When the design is locked, you will receive a final project quote accounting for all the design details and material selections.
-
Once you approve the final quote, we will send you a basic work contract for signature, and will require a 50% deposit to order materials and begin fabrication.
-
When the project is within 1 week of completion, we will get in touch to arrange for delivery or pickup.
-
We will collect the remaining 50% of payment upon final delivery.
How long does the design process take?
Design time will largely depend on you.
After we take the design deposit, we usually deliver our first draft within 1 week. Beyond that, it's going to depend on how quickly you respond, how decisive you are and how many changes you will want.
We like to give our clients the benefit of the doubt and assume that they are reasonably buttoned up with what they want. When that is the case, we can generally nail the final design in a couple of quick iterations. These two iterations are assumed as part of the creative process and are included in the design fee. If the process becomes unreasonably burdensome, then extra charges will be applied for additional iterations.
We don't like to put too many restrictions on the design phase, because it's the foundation of a successful project. However, we both carry a little bit of responsibility to make sure this part goes smoothly so we can get to work on your piece.
